About us

We are proud to be the last safe space on the high street and are a registered Place of Welcome – offering hot drinks and biscuits free of charge and enabling visitors to stay all day to use our facilities, including access to toilets, computers, books or the chance to just simply be.

The dark evenings and cold winter months can be challenging for everyone. The winter is especially tough on people who feel lonely and isolated, and for anyone who can’t afford to keep heat their homes or get enough to eat. We here to help, offering you a warm, welcoming, free and safe space in your community.

You’re welcome to come to the library even if you’re not a member, it’s an open invitation to everyone. We want everyone in Earlsdon and the wider Coventry area to access a warm and welcoming space, to connect with others, make new friends, and feel part of their local community, so no one has to face poverty or isolation alone.

Our Warm Welcome Space is open every week day excluding Wednesdays and Friday mornings. We’re also open on Saturday mornings. You can find us right at the bottom of Earlsdon Street (more commonly known as Earlsdon High Street) on the island, just behind the bus stop and opposite the City Arms.

When you come to the library, you can find numerous free activities, events and groups – just see our What’s On poster for more information. We’ve got free access to books, reliable wi-fi, newspapers, comfortable seating, laptop trays, computers, free hot drinks and snacks. You’re welcome to come in to work, rest, warm up or relax in our beautiful Reading Room. Our Children’s Library is always bustling and there’s plenty of quieter areas where you can go if you need to concentrate.

Last year we were overwhelmed with your generosity and we received a huge number of donated items of tea, coffee, sugar etc. We’ve already got plenty of stock for this year and whilst we’re very grateful to anyone who wants to give us perishable items to use, we can manage the stock much better if we purchase it ourselves. If you’d like to make a donation to the library you can use our crowdfunder:

We’ll look forward to meeting you and giving you a very Warm Welcome!
